Ex-mercenary Jack
Vane was trying just not to bother anyone, when he was accused of
mass murder—the brutal slaughter of fifty-three Elite Media by an
unknown attacker with a high-tech weapon.
Jack is trapped
between a U. S. President who seeks reelection---at any cost--and
a Left-wing Media that will stop at nothing to guarantee his
reelection.
Jack does not
suspect he will also discover a soul-shattering secret about
himself—one that will transform him forever.
If you were Jack
and the destiny of Earth were at stake, what would you do?
Ah, but you’re not Jack.
And you don’t know jack about
Jack.
***** EXCERPT:
“My theory is that this bunch in the White House—this guy—they’re
lawless, grabbing power wherever they can, getting ready to use it
one day, for I don’t know exactly what, but something big. And
you’re somehow in the mix.”
“How do you mean, ‘they’re lawless’?”
“I mean to a lawyer like me, they trample the law every week—every
day.”
“Like how?”
“Like, just the other day, the guy—he contravenes a major act that
had been voted into law by Congress. Just like that, with a flick
of his pen he changes the law with an executive order. He guts it
like a fish—changes it into something it was never meant to be.
And everyone’s afraid to say anything. And he picks up another
enslaved voting bloc. It’s right out of 1984, or something, Jack.
“But, see, nobody can believe it because it’s just too far out of
the American experience. They can’t believe any President would
want to transform America into some prison-paradise where
everybody’s pulled down to the lowest level rather than boosted up
to the highest. He buys votes, wherever he can find them, with the
taxpayers’ money. And nobody says anything. Jeezus, Jack, I’m
starting to worry.”
“You’re worried about crazy conspiracy theories?”
“No, Jack—if it’s fricking real, it’s not a theory! Look—they’re
testing these MQ-1 Predator drones firing laser designators down
on America right now. Who they gonna drop guided bombs on here, in
America?
“And back in March, the Department of Homeland Security purchases
a half-million rounds of .40 hollow-point ammo. You know that kind
of ammo is illegal in war, all over the world, so who they gonna
shoot that much, that way, and here, Jack? Since when does DHS
have an army, anyway?"
“I know what law you meant before when you said he gutted one. And
maybe it all ties in together. It only benefits him. It only
increases the underclass of slaves who have to re-elect him to
keep collecting.”
“Who knows, Jack? Maybe he’s going to recruit them into his
armies, too.”
“What?”
“I’m saying he expects big trouble coming, for him. And there’s a
cover-up of something really big right now. And major suppression
is coming down on America; if we ever find out what it is he’s
covering up."

Friedberg's novels
never disappoint me...I
can't put his books down...I don't know how even to begin to
describe all the plot twists and turns in this book... he does
it so well that suspension of disbelief happens effortlessly
for the reader who begins to believe in conspiracies and
mystical moments and enjoys it all the way to the last page.
Friedberg does more than write thrillers. When I could
stop reading, I found myself running to the Internet to look
up the atom bomb and other historical details in the novel.
Friedberg expertly blends in history with the plot until
readers begin wondering, "What is fact and what is fiction?"
Despite the somewhat exaggerated "thriller" world that
Friedberg creates, he does it so well that suspension of
disbelief happens effortlessly for the reader who begins to
believe in conspiracies and mystical moments and enjoys it all
the way to the last page.
And the novel is so funny! I laughed more times than I
could ever count. Friedberg is a master at creating witty
dialogue. Humphrey Bogart would not be able to compete with
the witty manner in which Jack Vane and his fellow characters
can deliver their lines--in fact, this book would make a great
movie, an incredible blockbuster summer movie, and unlike most
of those films, it would have depth to it as well.
I don't think anyone who loves a good read and intelligent,
witty writing will be disappointed. I can't wait for the
next book and the opportunity to return to Jeffrey Friedberg's
conspiracy ridden, action-packed American Southwest again.

The Jack Vane Conspiracies
I wrote this book after observing an unknown UFO (see "Customer
Images," above herein) gyrating in the flight path zone of the Southwest Florida
International Airport. When the Government FAA vehemently denied any such craft
existed or had been in the air at that time, I also found myself under
surveillance by an invisible (to the naked eye) device that had entered my home
under intelligent guidance. It was caught and made visible in the flash of a
digital camera as---unaware---I happened to be taking insurance-type "hurricane"
photos of my house. I then decided to get to the bottom of this mystery via a
lengthy investigation that ultimately covered the entire interior of my
three-car garage with notes, stickums, fan-feed computer paper, and other
information. I studied that information for months, and this epic book was the
result: what I (investigatively) believe runs and informs the World.
And, no, I did not fake the photos; they have been
vetted by MUFON.

Who is
killing off all the TV news anchors,
journalists, and media reporters ?
Excerpt:
He hated the media.
He hated their breathy, too intimate way of speaking. He hated
their weird delivery and affectations--their arrogance.
He hated the distortion of truth for entertainment or political
agenda. He hated FOX; he hated O'Reilly; he hated Sharpton; he
hated CNN. He hated all of them.
But He'd never dreamed
of murder.
Jack's entire life had been about truth; finding it or defending
it. A sword blade that could not be broken, the truth could never
be changed. But it could be lied about, and he hated that too.
Yet, he'd never dreamed of
murder before....
He thought if journalists started getting
murdered as a message, the rest of them would shut up and shut
down. He believed they
would flee.
*Synopsis:
New Mexico private eye Jack Vane had no choice. The Mob
kingpin, Yaakov Irgun decreed either he take the case and
succeed in finding what Irgun wants, or Jack dies. The
problem is Irgun wants Jack to find the lost treasure of
Spanish Conquistador Francisco Coronado, worth billions,
and probably only a legend.
The case embroils Jack in inescapable clashes with death
that leave him accused of serial murder. Since Jack is
suffering from strange blackouts, he doesn't actually know
whether he's guilty or not. Police Lieutenant Desdemona
Warchovski--Jack's manic ex-girlfriend who is still
enraged over his jilting her--is determined to find Jack
guilty, or gun him down, or both.
The situation becomes even worse when Jack discovers a
mysterious international cabal also seeks Coronado's lost
treasure with the goal to finance a vast conspiracy to
steal New Mexico's energy riches. This scheme will wreak
environmental havoc and destroy Indian sacred lands. And
this group wants Jack to double-cross the mob to help
them--or they will kill him before even Lieutenant
Warchovski or the mob--except they will make it hurt a
lot more.
The clock is counting down. Jack is a fugitive, fearful,
and alone. He must find the treasure and the killer--even
if it turns out to be him. As powerful forces gather in a
relentless death-race to destroy him, what path should
Jack take?
What would you do?

Lost Relic of the Gods, 2012: The God Conspiracy
(Volume 1)
Reviewed by Marty Shaw for Reader Views (08/10)
I wasn‟t
sure about Lost Relic of the Gods" at first. The prologue takes
place in 950 BC, 150 miles outside Jerusalem, and I started to think I
misread the copy on the back cover. Fortunately, the prologue merely
sets the stage for the actual story, which quickly moves to modern
times. The prologue also provides some very useful information that
comes to light later in the book.
Once the
story shifts to modern times, we‟re introduced to Jack Vane, a
seemingly washed up private eye who is quite happy to accept what life
has to offer so long as he lives that life with his beautiful wife,
Diana, at his side. An attorney friend contacts Jack and talks him into
meeting with a client that wants to hire him. The client, a mystery
woman named Charmant, offers Jack a deal she believes he can‟t
refuse… but he refuses the job offer, anyway. Shortly after that,
Diana and her unborn twins are killed. Jack is convinced that turning
down the job of hunting for an ancient relic is the cause of the deaths
so he begins a quest to find the relic and get revenge against the
murderers. He soon finds himself entangled in ancient legends and
prophecies, fighting against two powerful organizations determined to
use him for their own purposes. Jack is a man with a destiny. Now he
just has to figure out if that destiny is to save the world, or destroy
it.
The
character of Jack Vane appealed to me almost instantly. He‟s a
hero not forged in the typical „hero‟ mold. He has morals, but
his moral code is strictly his. Immoral acts are acceptable as long as
there is justification for those acts in his mind. He‟s a knight
with slightly tarnished armor that believes that getting one‟s
hands dirty is just a part of the job. A stubborn streak and a mouth
that has a talent for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time have the
ability to frustrate his enemies, while entertaining the reader at the
same time.
There‟s
a lot going on in the story, but the author does an excellent job of
balancing the information out. We learn things as Jack does and that
allows the tension to build as the action keeps you turning the page at
a brisk pace. While the powers at play are cosmic in size, the
real-world settings and the humanity of Jack and the other main
characters keep things grounded, and it‟s easy for us to place
ourselves within the story and experience the adventure through Jack‟s
eyes.
"Lost
Relic of the Gods" is packed with tons of suspense, plenty of
action, a few graphic deaths, and one mildly graphic sex scene. Readers
who enjoy themes along the Indiana Jones" and "The DaVinci
Code" storylines will enjoy this book and will be looking forward
to the next chapter in the story as anxiously as I am.

Lost Relic Of The Gods, a thriller, was like a movie in my mind, so
clear and powerful I felt like I was watching AVATAR or LORD OF THE
RINGS at times.
Not only can Friedberg really write, turn a phrase and
use language with tremendous originality, and create Lost Worlds of
monstrous Intrigue---but he pulls you into the
action. Additionally, there is some really amazing philosophy and
thrilling predictions he's not afraid to lay out for your review. He
treats "old" topics with insight that makes them startling new
issues. I highly recommend this book if you like to escape into other
worlds, universes, and lives-only to emerge unscathed but thrilled at
the stunning surprise ending!

2012 SUSPENSE
THRILLER book!

Jenny Nathan Reviews
This book really got to me. I don't say that about a lot of books,
but I had to write a review on this one. I fell in love with half the
characters and totally despised the other half, but in a delicious way.
I couldn't get enough of the action. I felt like I was on a roller
coaster ride and I didn't want to put the damn thing down. Friedberg
makes Indiana Jones look like child's play.
Black Jack Vane is my hero. I even like his trashy mouth. His flaws make
him human. If he was real, I'd marry him. The Native American lore was
fascinating. I've been a professional writer and editor for over twenty
years, and I haven't read a story of good and evil and redemption that
gripped my attention like this in a long time.
I loved the ancient themes, the Lost Relic, and Jack's unrelenting
journey. I really didn't expect to get so much out of one book - action,
love, magic, secrets, good and evil, and flat out outrageousness. Every
surprise is topped by an even bigger, more unexpected explosion. Had me
going right up to the end.
This one's a keeper. Haven't read a book I enjoyed so much in years.
Friedberg is a skilled craftsman. His research is vast and intricate.
And being a former P.I. doesn't hurt. Friedberg was born to write this.
I only have two questions: When's the sequel coming out? I'm buying it.
And, when's the movie coming out? I'll buy the first ticket.
